Nu på måndag presenterar vi en föreläsning med prof. Neil Powell om klimatet och anpassning inför de förändringar som vi står inför.

Föredraget hålls på engelska med titeln “Climate change adaptation and water governance – reconciling food security, renewable energy and the provision of multiple ecosystem services”.

Fördraget kommer kortfattat att handla om hur det mest effektivt går att anpassa sig till klimatförändringarna samt hur vi kan organisera vårt styrelsesätt till dessa nya utmaningar. Mer specifikt kommer det att handla om:

“Over recent years discourses on vulnerability, resilience and sustainability have begun to overlap around issues associated with climate change adaptation. A common thread exists in the concept of adaptation pathways, whereby adaptation is viewed as a transformational governance process that moves complex socio-ecological systems towards a sustainable trajectory. The past focus on biophysical assessments of climate change, while important, have not addressed the underpinning socio-economic issues associated with effective adaptation and detracts from the ability to comprehensively address many global challenges. Understanding how to address complex and intractable issues at the global scale is a critical knowledge gap and provides an impetus to examine the potential of promising approaches to systemic and adaptive governance; especially for issues such as water security that will be exacerbated by climate change”.

Neil Powell är föreståndare för Centrum för hållbar utveckling och gästprofessor för Naturresurser och Hållbar utveckling, båda vid institutionen för geovetenskaper på Uppsala universitet, samt professor för Sustainability Research Centre (SRC) vid University of the Sunshine Coast, Australien.
